The Social Security Fund (FSS) is calling on employers to pay obligatory system contributions for their local long-term employees for the third quarter of 2020. If a non-resident worker is hired, the employer is required to pay the employment fee as well.  In addition, arbitrary system beneficiaries are also required to pay contributions in October. To reduce queuing time, it is recommended that employers and residents make their payments as early as possible and use the appointment service or get a ticket online. FSS noted that employers and arbitrary system beneficiaries who have already applied to use the electronic filing service should try to make their payments electronically.

1,550 finished subsidized training courses

Approximately 1,550 local residents have completed the government subsidized training courses. Nearly 1,000 of these people have been employed after graduating from the courses. The Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) matched jobs for around 600 of them. One cohort of the students completed their training in August and are currently in the job recruitment process. Recently, DSAL launched two paid training programs for unemployed individuals, university graduates, those who are currently employed, and freelancers. 452 people have already applied for the first phase of the program, which is specifically for enhancing certain skills in tourism, catering, and languages. Regarding the second program, DSAL offers over 800 places to help unemployed individuals and university graduates with their career development.

Amaral bus stop roof project begins Friday

The local government will commence construction works at Praça de Ferreira do Amaral in order to build roofs above the bus stations this Friday. The entire construction is divided into four sessions all due in the first half of December. Once the project is completed, Amaral bus stations will have roofs spanning over 200 meters in total, as opposed to the current 75 meters. The roofs will have glass ceilings made with specialist materials to deflect heat and improve the comfort of passengers waiting at the station. During the first stage of the construction, which occurs between October 9 and October 19, bus routes 21A and 26A will temporarily stop at lane E3.
