Briefs | Jaime Carion retires from DSSOPT

The Director of the Land, Public Works and Transport Bureau (DSSOPT), Jaime Carion, is retiring after working 36 years as a civil servant. DSSOPT’s current deputy director Chan Pou Ha will replace him temporarily as of Nov 1. In a statement released yesterday, DSSOPT said Jaime Carion met all the requirements to process his retirement, according to Macau’s law. The government department added that Jaime Carion chose to retire voluntarily. DSSOPT stressed that he performed his duties professionally, always showing leadership skills. DSSOPT also assured that mechanisms are already in place to allow the implementation of ongoing projects. The Secretary for Transport and Public Works believes that “DSSOPT leaders and staff will continue to show great team spirit while performing their duties.”

Meeting interrupted due to lack of quorum

A meeting of the Urban Planning Committee was terminated yesterday due to a lack of quorum. The meeting had lasted for more than four hours and finished deliberating on eight urban condition plans. However, when discussing the last plan, that involved a land lot at the Estrada de Hac Sa in Coloane, Committee members started departing. Eventually, the number of members remaining was lower than 18, which is the official quorum. This prompted the meeting to be terminated. The discussion about the Estrada de Hac Sa land lot will resume in the next meeting.
