Briefs | Lei suggests gov’t avoid ‘unlimited’ investment in MID

Lawmaker Ella Lei has recommended that the government avoid unlimited injection into public investment company Macau Investment and Development Limited (MID). In a recent interpellation, Lei expressed worry that the government had not set a ceiling on the amount to invest in MID. She criticized the company for lacking transparency, as that there is no established mechanism to evaluate and assess the return on investment, and accused the company poor cost-efficiency given the high fees paid by the government in respect of the company’s management and consultation.

Guangdong, SAR to create a cluster of ‘forest cities’

The Guangdong and Macau governments plan to create a cluster of forest cities in the Greater Bay Area, according to a statement released by the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM). An IAM delegation met with Guangdong’s forestry authority recently to discuss how Macau can integrate into the Greater Bay Area to develop a cluster of forest cities.

Macau shooting range may be demolished

The Macau International Shooting Range may be demolished, according to a report by TDM citing the Sports Bureau (ID). ID is currently replanning the shooting range, which is located next to the Macau East Asian Games Dome. Proposals currently under consideration include the addition of other sports facilities at the site. The same site also has one bowling hall, tennis court and other facilities occupying a total of 69,591 square meters. The current plan only concerns the shooting range.
