Melco Resorts & Entertainment announced yesterday that a one-month discretionary bonus will be paid to all eligible non-management employees before the Chinese New Year. Lawrence Ho, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Melco Resorts & Entertainment, was quoted in a press release stating: “Today’s announcement is in recognition of the dedication, loyalty and hard work of our non-management team, who are highly valued and integral to Melco’s every achievement. In 2019, we look forward to together continuing to deliver world-class hospitality, entertainment and dining experiences to our guests, and to continue contributing to the successful development of the Greater Bay Area.”

Man dug Ilha Verde hill for his own plant

The same local man who installed his own gym equipment on the Ilha Verde hill was found, on Wednesday, to have also dug the hill for the purposes of planting. Last week, a 62-year-old local retired man was found responsible for damage to the Ilha Verde hill. The man lives in a social housing estate close to the hill. He dug into the hill, built stairs and installed gym equipment on the hill to allow himself to work out and hike on the mountain. The damage spans an area of 20 by 30 meters. This time, the man dug two rows of planting ground, each spanning an area of 10 meters by 30 centimeters.  He is now being charged for aggravated damage.

Woman injured in acid attack

A mainland woman sustained severe injuries after a man spilled liquid on her. It is not known yet what the composition of the liquid was. The victim is a blue-card holder in her 40s. The case was reported on Wednesday, having occurred at Av. do Dr. Rodrigo Rodrigues.  The woman sustained injuries on her head and one of her hands. The victim claimed she knows the suspect. The man is suspected of having injured the woman due to a relationship dispute.

CCAC probes price of fire dampers replacement

André Cheong, commissioner of the Commission Against Corruption (CCAC), said that the bureau has already started to investigate the change over the Ilha Verde affordable house fire dampers. Earlier, lawmaker Sulu Sou proposed a debate at the Legislative Assembly to discuss the prospect of changing fire dampers in the affordable houses of Ilha Verde Community Building.  Ilha Verde’s affordable house project has not yet been issued an occupation permit, and the government had proposed reinstalling 269 fire dampers at the building, costing a total of MOP40 million. The investigation will try to determine whether the costs derailed from the market price, and whether government departments followed the laws and instructions written in the proposal.

IACM Building Library renamed Senado Library

Concurrent with the establishment of the Municipal Affairs Bureau on January 1, the former Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau’s (IACM) Building Library on the second floor of the IACM Building at No.163, Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro, was renamed as the Senado Library. Operated by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the Senado Library houses a collection of approximately 20,000 foreign rare books and special collections from the 17th century to the 1950s, providing relevant services for researchers.
