Briefs: R-Cherikoff blames raw material for failing quality test

Several Macau and Hong Kong food products, including the almond biscuit and egg roll produced by R-Cherikoff, have failed the test of the Chinese General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, and were thus returned or destroyed. The R-Cherikoff products were found to contain a small amount of coliform bacteria and chemicals in excess of the limit. A R-Cherikoff Food (Macau) Company representative told TDM that the problem lies in two different types of raw materials supplied from mainland. The company has already looked for other suppliers and will source the materials from Taiwan and the United States. R-Cherikoff said that the products in question were also sold in Macau. They stopped selling and started recalling those products once they were informed of the test results.

Pâtacrêp’, a burlesque show without words, staged four performances at the Macao Cultural Centre last weekend. A jolly team of two clowns set the tone for a weekend full of humor and laughter through a blend of mime, music, juggling and gags for both kids and grown-ups. The story explores the secret universe of a crêpe stand, as both friends take over in the vendor’s absence. After each performance, the kids had the opportunity to pretend that they were clowns and interact with the performers. Apart from the performance, the company hosted two workshop sessions for children, unveiling the clowning techniques and playing music with everyday objects. Founded in 1996, the French theatre group Compagnie Choc Trio has been creating shows for audiences in Europe, Taiwan and Japan, staging more than 1,000 performances. Pâtacrêp’ was organized by CCM and presented four performances over the weekend.
