A delegation of around 30 local businessmen representing many industries including infrastructure construction, food processing, trading and electronics toured Portugal and Brazil from November 18 to 26. The aim of the tour was to seek out new business opportunities that could take advantage of the “Three Centers” under the platform between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries, the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) informed in a statement.
The tour was led by IPIM in cooperation with the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic Cooperation and Trade between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries (Forum Macau). Both parties expressed satisfaction concerning the outcomes of the tour, noting that it achieved good results and contributed to an added confidence in the Portuguese-speaking countries market.
During the visit to Portugal and Brazil, the business delegation visited several government entities, as well as local Chinese diplomatic representations, Chinese food companies established in those countries and infrastructure and productivity projects.
The organizers also held, in cooperation with government agencies, trade associations and local chambers of commerce, economic and trade meetings in Lisbon (Portugal) and São Paulo (Brazil), as well as an exchange cocktail in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), which over 400 people attended. Approximately 50 contact sessions were established during these events and seven agreements were signed. These agreements involved companies from the fields of food processing, commerce, electronic technology, medical supplies, construction materials and mining industry.
At the same time, a delegate from the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce held an event aiming to share the experience resulting from the group of Portuguese enterprises that had participated from the Food and Beverages Fair in Shanghai (Sial China 2017) earlier this year. The delegate noted the opportunities existing in markets as large as Asia, and China in particular.
During the event, the Chamber of Commerce reached an agreement with Chinese and Macau counterparts to establish a strategic cooperation partnership.
