“The exhibitions will attract both residents and tourists to experience Macau in a new and different perspective”, Helena de Senna Fernandes

An exhibit featuring Lego versions of local attractions and monuments opened to the public last Friday. It will be available for viewing until 28 December at the Ritz Building, in Senado Square, and at the Macau Science Centre.
A team led by Andy Hung, the first certified Lego professional in the Greater China region, used over 120,000 Lego bricks to build replicas of iconic Macau landmarks such as Macau’s World Heritage sites, attractions and events. Andy Hung paid great attention to the realism of the buildings depicted and used miniature figures and props to highlight the atmosphere of places like Senado Square, Rua de Felicidade and the Ruins of St. Paul’s, replicas of which are displayed at the Ritz Building. The Macau Grand Prix Guia Circuit, Macau Tower and map of Macau Peninsula exhibits are displayed at the Macau Science Centre.
The three-month crossover exhibition inauguration was officiated by the Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) director, Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, and the Lego HK Marketing Manager, Yvonne Lam Wing Ki.
“We believe that the exhibitions will attract both residents and tourists to experience Macau in a new and different perspective,” Helena de Senna Fernandes said at the official opening.
In conjunction with the Lego exhibition, a digital photography exhibition by photographer Antonio Leong will also be on display. Leong has created a virtual trip to Macau using Lego mini-figures as tourists exploring several Macau landmarks.
The exhibition also offers a series of workshops conducted by Andy Hung and Antonio Leong. The two will share their techniques and experiences with members of the public who sign up for the sessions.
Last year and in mid-September this year, MGTO organized large-scale roadshows in Hong Kong, showcasing Lego versions of some famous Macau landmarks which, according to MGTO, were very well received by the public. The current exhibition has been in development for more than half a year.
