Cultural events to be held at heritage sites

2 renato marques MG_9486The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) is organizing a series of events to celebrate the Lunar New Year at the several heritage sites.
Between today and Feb 21, Macau Museum, the Mandarin’s House, the Lou Kau House, D. Pedro V Theatre, the old house of general Ye Ting, the Kun Iam Ecumenical Center, and their Mount Fortress surroundings, among other sites, will be open to the public so that residents and tourists have a chance to visit them throughout the Chinese New Year holiday.
At the Mandarin’s House, IC will be organizing calligraphy-related activities and a showcase of the Lion Dance. Meanwhile, the Lou Kau House will be offering visitors a taste of traditional Chinese music. The Macau Chinese Orchestra will also be performing at the Macao Museum’s entrance on February 27 at 11 a.m.
The Macao Museum will be holding an exhibition featuring rare paintings by George Chinnery, Thomas Boswall Watson, and Marciano António Baptista until May 3. Entrance to all Chinese New Year celebration activities is free of charge, except for the museum fees.
The IC said in a statement that Macau’s Central Library and other libraries operating under it will be closed between February 19 and 21.
