DSAL to roll out recruitment platform for local workers

The Employment Promotion Coordination Working Group held its regular meeting last week, during which it revealed that the Labor Affairs Bureau (DSAL) will establish a recruitment platform to create more employment opportunities for the city’s job seekers.

Led by Secretary for Economy and Finance Anton Tai, the task force emphasized the importance of ongoing monitoring of labor market dynamics and timely organization of job matching events, urging all public entities to enhance the proportion of local employees where feasible.

According to a statement from Tai’s office, the meeting was convened to review the effectiveness of recent large-scale job fairs in connecting young people with employment opportunities and to assess the implementation of giving priority to local hires in public works and service contracts.

During the meeting, the Secretary reportedly requested that working group members closely monitor labor market dynamics, organize job matching events of varying scales as appropriate, align with residents’ job-seeking needs, and strive to promote a balanced supply and demand in the employment market.

The statement noted that various entities presented local employee data for their respective sectors, and Tai instructed them to encourage suppliers to increase the proportion of local employees where conditions permit.

It also stated that the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) reported during the meeting on the job-seeking characteristics and needs of recent graduates, providing valuable insights for formulating future youth employment assistance measures and expanding employment opportunities for young people.

The statement once again emphasized the working group’s commitment to continuously deepening cross-departmental collaboration, monitoring the overall dynamics and development trends of Macau’s employment market, and comprehensively advancing the implementation of employment security measures.

It highlighted the importance of working closely with all sectors of society to ensure stable, priority employment for local residents.
