The Judiciary Police (PJ) reported receiving seven fraud complaints between Aug. 27 and Aug. 31 involving Macau residents allegedly deceived by callers posing as Taobao customer service staff. The victims, three men and four women, suffered combined losses of about MOP1.68 million, with the largest single case involving MOP994,000. According to police, the callers claimed victims’ “payment security protection” had expired and instructed them to click on links, use screen-sharing functions, and transfer funds to designated bank accounts for verification.
