American jazz and contemporary vocalist Jane Monheit will hit the stage of the Grand Auditorium in Macau Cultural Centre (CCM) on January 31.
A leading light of both the jazz and cabaret worlds for nearly two decades, Jane Monheit takes her audience back to a golden era of musical glamour. Her concerts include eclectic sets that combine familiar standards like “I Won’t Dance”, a track recorded as a duet with Michael Bublé, and her own iconic “Cheek to Cheek”. Besides classic jazz, the two-time Grammy nominee also interprets pop compositions by songwriters like Lennon/McCartney and Randy Newman, and is a passionate interpreter of Brazilian rhythms, often singing tunes by legendary composer Ivan Lins.
Her debut album, “Never Never Land”, released in 2000, remained on the Billboard Jazz chart for over a year, and was also voted Best Debut Recording by the Jazz Journalists Association. Since then, Monheit’s work has garnered a number of awards.
One hour prior to Monheit’s concert, music critic Mark Lei will deliver a talk, during which he will introduce the audience to different kinds of jazz. Held in CCM’s Conference Room, admission to the talk is free.
