Food & Beverage | Yí offers one-of-a-kind tasting menu at Morpheus

Contemporary Chinese fine dining is reaching new heights at Yí at Morpheus, City of Dreams, where China’s many flavors are presented by award-winning Chef de Cuisine Angelo Wong.

As the first Chinese fine-dining restaurant in Macau to offer daily tasting menus, Yí offers a one-of-a-kind blend of regional Chinese cuisines served in a ‘non-menu’ style that is also a first in Asia.

At a recent media event, the restaurant surprised its guests with its menu, without detailing the cuisines that would be served throughout the night.

Yí’s signature daily tasting menu presents an array of flavors from Cantonese, Sichuan, Chaozhou, Hunan, and Shandong cuisines, taking guests on a gastronomic adventure enhanced by expert tea pairings curated by a team of certified tea sommeliers.

Yí is located on the sky bridge on the 21st floor of Morpheus at City of Dreams, and features 12 tables set within eight dragon-scales-inspired golden semi-domes that face the windows to allow guests to take in the surrounding mountain and garden views.

This design also aims to provide privacy for guests.

With an award-winning team of culinary experts and luxurious interiors designed by the globally renowned Zaha Hadid Architects, Yí comprises a main dining room that can accommodate over 60 guests.

The restaurant’s Cigar Bar, meanwhile, offers an excellent variety of cigars, as well as wines and spirits for a relaxing aperitif or digestif.

Yí’s culinary philosophy is based on the oldest of the Chinese classic texts, “I Ching” or “Book of Changes,” in which Yí refers to the belief that nourishment leads to wellness and good fortune.

Chef Wong and his team of culinary experts from around China express this belief in every dish at Yí, while maintaining their focus on traditional cooking techniques.

As a point of pride, there are no freezers in Yí’s kitchen – aiming to ensure that all ingredients at Yí are always as fresh as possible, with a range of fresh-caught seafood delivered daily.

As well as expertly curated tea pairings by tea sommeliers, wine sommeliers are also on hand to curate the perfect accompaniment for each dish as part of the dining experience. Lynzy Valles, MDT
