Health | Chinese Medicine Park delegation tours Europe

A delegation from the Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park has recently toured the Netherlands, Czech Republic and Portugal.
A statement released by the Guangdong-Macau Traditional Chinese Medicine Technology Industrial Park Development Co., Ltd indicated that the delegation toured the three European countries from June 23 to July 1 and was led by Lu Hong, advisor of the Office of the Secretary for Economy and Finance, Lionel Leong.
Among other aims, the delegation discussed issues such as the establishment of an international quality control base for traditional Chinese medicine and the promotion of trade and the establishment of centers of traditional Chinese medicine abroad.
During the tour, the delegation visited several research institutions as well as universities and health related government departments. The highlight of the tour was a visit to the Biomedicine Laboratory at the University of Leiden (Netherlands) where they spoke to Wang Mei, a European Pharmacopoeia Commission member whose experience related to the registration of traditional Chinese medicine products within the European Union (EU). Topics related to the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in the EU were also addressed.
During a visit to Portugal, the delegation participated in another conference. During the event, Lu Hong stressed the importance always given by the MSAR government to the role of Portugal as a link to the Portuguese-speaking countries, hoping that this connection can also promote exchange in the field of traditional Chinese medicine.
