Easterners meet westerners, by Lio Man Cheong

The “Exhibition of Artworks by Members of Macau Artists Society 2016”, featuring a total of 169 works by members of the Society, will be inaugurated on August 16 at 6.30 p.m. at the Nam Van Old Court Building, as part of its 60th anniversary celebration.
Jointly organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau and Macau Artists Society, the exhibition brings together different art forms including watercolor, oil painting, sketching, ink wash painting, calligraphy and sculpture which showcases a variety of genres. According to its promoters, the exhibition provides “an opportunity for visitors to appreciate local art and its far-reaching significance in promoting artistic development in Macau.”
Established in 1956, the Macau Artists Society is celebrating its 60th anniversary. Each of its 169 members will showcase an exquisite work in the exhibition. This year’s exhibition features the highest number of artists from the Macau Artists Society of all editions.
The exhibition is open daily from August 17 to September 7. Admission is free.
