Macanese photographer Manuel Cardoso has passed away at the Conde de São Januário public hospital. He started working as a professional photographer during the 1960s and worked for several local public departments. During the Portuguese Administration, Cardoso was the official photographer of several governors. He also worked for the local press, including Macau Daily Times.
Minimum subsistence index to rise in Jan
The government has announced an upwards adjustment of around 3 percent to the minimum subsistence index, effective from January 2015. The index for a one-member household will increase from MOP3,800 to MOP3,920, while a two-member household will receive 7,200; a three-member household will get MOP9,920; and a household with four members will receive MOP12,060. As for households with five, six and seven members, the minimum subsistence index will be MOP13,610, MOP15,170 and MOP16,730 respectively. For households with eight members or more, the minimum subsistence index will be adjusted to MOP18,260. The most recent changes to the minimum subsistence index took effect on July 1 this year.
