Melco promotes and honors Volunteerism among colleagues

Volunteering is an integral part of Melco Resorts & Entertainment’s culture. The “Melco Volunteer Recognition Ceremony 2025” was recently hosted to honor colleagues for their support and dedication to serving the community through “Simple Acts of Kindness”, the Company’s signature volunteerism initiative. The event honored over 2,000 colleagues and their children who have devoted their time to volunteering between 2023 and 2024.

Since 2007, Melco’s “Simple Acts of Kindness” initiative has received over 200,000 participations, contributed more than 365,000 hours of service, and benefitted more than 570,000 individuals through a wide range of volunteer activities that strive to create a meaningful and lasting impact across different areas of society.
Esteemed Guests of Honor including representatives from the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, the Macau SAR Government, and community and educational institutions, were greeted by Melco senior executives including Mr. Lawrence Ho, Chairman & CEO.
During the event, Mr. Lawrence Ho said, “Volunteering is a powerful way to create meaningful change, and caring for the community has always been core to Melco’s culture and vision. I am honored to be here today in celebration and recognition of the efforts and great work of our volunteering team colleagues to help us collectively achieve such goals. We are grateful for the team’s dedication in engaging and helping the community. We also extend our gratitude to our partnering associations, helping us extend our reach within society. We will go on to promote volunteerism through initiatives including ‘Simple Acts of Kindness’ and ‘Teaching Children Values’, not just within the company, but among the industry and broader community.”

Long-term volunteer team member, Ms. Chong Sok I, Supervisor, Table Games and awardee for the “Top Volunteers (By Frequency) for 2023 & 2024” category, said, “I’ve been volunteering for around 8 years now with the company, and it brings me so much happiness each time I participate in an activity to help others in the community. I feel grateful to be part of the volunteer team.”

Mr. Cyrus Chao, Assistant Manager, Resorts & Loyalty Marketing, who was recognized as one of the “Top Volunteers (Teaching Children Values – Parent-Child Volunteer) for 2023 & 2024” added, “Volunteering with my children allows them to learn and realize the joy of giving and helping others whilst deepening their understanding and meaning of volunteerism.”

In addition to enhancing parent-child relationships, the “Teaching Children Values” initiative, which encourages colleagues to include their children in volunteering, enable children the opportunity to take part in community services, gain meaningful experiences, learn important and positive life values, and cultivate love and good character from an early age. When asked about volunteering, the young participants expressed their joy in being able to help others, and that they would like to join future activities again together with their parents.

Ms. Julie Ng, Assistant Manager, Restaurant, volunteer and supporter of Melco’s “Teaching Children Values” initiative, said, “My daughter and I have joined many volunteering activities over the years to help spread warmth in the community. I believe we should give back to society if we are able and pass on the spirit of helping others.”
Highlights of recent “Simple Acts of Kindness” initiatives to engage and support communities such as elderlies, persons with disabilities, environmental protection, women, family services, animal welfare and children & youth include Melco volunteers’ Children’s Day visit to Escola Kai Chi, a kindergarten for special needs students. The children welcomed volunteers by presenting music and dance performances, and Melco volunteers engaged in a cheerful morning together with the children through a series of games and gift sharing sessions.

Earlier in the summer, Melco sponsored the annual “Inclusion Conference & Festival” and “Macau Golf Masters”, two globally renowned events celebrating diversity and inclusion. Volunteers supported the “Macau Golf Masters” event by arranging food and beverage logistics for participating special needs athletes, carefully preparing lunch boxes as a way of supporting the golfers and their family members.
Furthermore, Melco’s parent-child volunteers supported the Macau Social Services Center at their recent “Anti-Drug Promotional Carnival”, presenting anti-drug abuse-themed games for participants. Melco’s young volunteer bolstered the event’s atmosphere with an impressive martial arts performance at the opening ceremony.

Melco volunteers are also continuing to support local youth, person with disabilities and underprivileged families at City of Dreams’ “Horst: Photographer of Style” exhibition, where community-dedicated sessions invite beneficiaries from Association of Parents of the People with Intellectual Disabilities of Macau & Chu Kwong Center, Macao Federation of Trade Unions, The Women’s General Association of Macau, Fu Hong Society of Macau, Macau Deaf Association, Macau Association for Intellectual Development Services, and Good Shepherd Sister Women’s Mutual Help Center to immerse themselves in the joy of art and culture.
