The Michelin-starred Indian restaurant Golden Peacock, located in the Venetian Macau, will serve up cuisine from the Indian state of Kerala this coming April 10-20, with an exclusive edition of its set menu and more than 100 kinds of palate-stimulating homemade pickles, available from 10th to 20th next month.
The fresh menu to be offered, called “Journey Through God’s Own Country,” seeks to gratify both veggie lovers and connoisseurs of ordinary Indian cuisine with its vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. Each set menu consists of five courses, highlighting two authentic dishes from the Southern India, namely “Vendakka, Vendakka, Vendakka” from the vegetarian set menu and “Appam with Lamb Stew” from the other.
The notion of such an exotic culinary experience stemmed from the restaurant’s head chef, Justin Paul, who is also a Kerala native. The culinary master told the media that he hoped to bring “a slice of his home” to the city. “This menu is truly from the heart,” said Paul. “As a chef, my work is a labour of love, and this is especially true with this special menu. I’m so excited and proud to introduce these dishes from my homeland to our guests. I hope they enjoy savoring their unique flavors as much as I enjoy preparing them.”
The limited edition menus will be released in celebration of Kerala’s traditional New Year’s Day, which falls on April 15 this year. For the festive occasion, the master chef, under whose leadership the restaurant won an entry in the 2013 Michelin Guide, has unveiled a so-called “101 Pickles Station” offering a vast variety of Indian pickles and preserves from across southern India over 10 nights, which will be exclusively available at the Indian restaurant during the abovementioned period.
The chef at the helm of “Golden Peacock,” Justin Paul, has won numerous accolades for his culinary expertise, which spans a wide range of Indian and Middle Eastern cuisines. The Indian restaurant has attracted much attention from the media and food critics worldwide since its opening in February 2013. Soon after its opening in the same year, the restaurant received a one-star rating in the Michelin Guide for both Hong Kong & Macau’s 2014 and 2015 editions, and was also included in the 100 Top Tables 2014 of South China Morning Post and Hong Kong Tatler Best Restaurants guide for 2015.
