The fourth Philippine Consul-General, Ms Lilybeth Deapera, has been appointed to Macau and assumed her post from January 14.
The diplomat attended a design workshop at the Center for Architecture and Urbanism yesterday, where local architects and students presented their designs for the reconstruction of school buildings that were destroyed by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. Since taking office, Ms Deapera has met with China’s Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Hu Zhengyue. Her missions will focus on increasing bilateral trade and people-to-people cultural exchanges. In addition, the Consul General revealed that the Philippine Minister of Labor will visit Macau next month, and will meet with local government to discuss protection and welfare for Filipino migrant workers in the territory.
