The Minister of State and Foreign Affairs of Portugal, Rui Machete, announced Monday in Luanda the intention to move ahead with a system of special visas for businesspeople, as part of an existing agreement with Angola.
He made the statement after a meeting with the President of the Republic, José Eduardo dos Santos, and with Angolan Foreign Minister, Georges Chikoti.
The minister admitted “there is progress to be made” in particular in finding appropriate ways to allow business visas to be issued in a more effective way.
Machete also said that a ministerial commission from Portugal and Angola would meet at least once a year, to boost bilateral relations and that by April Luanda would host a business forum.
“It will be a forum for Portuguese companies that come to Luanda to discuss the problems of investments, exports, imports, with Angolan companies. It will be this year, in the first quarter,” said Rui Machete. MDT/Macauhub
