Portugal | Textile companies take part in fair in China

Eleven Portuguese companies will take art from 13 to 15 October in Shanghai, China, in Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics, one of the busiest fabric fairs in the world, with almost 4,000 exhibitors from 30 countries and regions. The organization of the Portugal Pavilion, which is taking part for the tenth time this year, is in the hands of Selectiva Moda, of the Textile and Clothing Association of Portugal in charge of promoting the country at international fairs, according to Portuguese news agency Lusa. In 2014, exports of Portuguese textiles to China totaled about 5.5 million euros, up 10 percent compared to 2013. The largest increase was in the areas of synthetic filaments and fibres, which grew 104 percent and 26 percent, respectively, but cotton fabrics remained in first place, accounting for about half of the total: 2.28 million euros, 10 percent more than in 2013.
