Pregnant women injured in bridge crashes

Three pregnant women were among those injured two days ago in two car accidents on the Friendship Bridge and the Sai Van Bridge.
Public Security Police (PSP) information indicated that one of the accidents, which took place at around 11:30 p.m. on the Friendship Bridge, involved four cars in a rear-end collision when they were returning to Macau from Taipa.
PSP initially claimed that there were five people, two male and three female, injured in the accident, with one of them a pregnant woman suffering from a pelvis fracture.
However, the authorities later clarified that the pelvis fracture patient was not pregnant. The two males involved also refused to go to the hospital. All drivers passed the alcohol test.
After preliminary investigations, PSP suspected that the last car had failed to stop in time and eventually caused the collision.
Another accident took place on the approach span of the Sai Van Bridge at 1 p.m. PSP suspected that the driver lost control of the car, which then hit the water-safety barriers and flipped upside down.
The young couple in the car escaped by themselves and waited for rescue. The 24-year-old female involved in the accident was seven months pregnant and felt unwell after the accident. Her husband accompanied her to the hospital and discovered that she had a pelvis fracture. However, a check-up revealed that the baby was fine. The driver passed the alcohol test.
