Statistics | 1,455 new companies recorded in Q1

A total of 1,455 new companies were created during the first quarter of 2015, an increase of 329 year-on-year, according to information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).
Analyzed by industry, the majority of new incorporations were operating in wholesale and retail (563) and business services (324). Companies in dissolution totaled 158, up by three year-on-year.
In the first quarter of 2015, the new companies’ capital came mainly from Macau (MOP86 million) and mainland China (MOP40 million), including MOP35 million from the nine provinces of the Pan-Pearl River Delta Region.
DSEC further indicated that 980 new companies had been established solely by Macau shareholders, along with 145 joint ventures between shareholders from Macau and other countries or regions.
At the end of the first quarter of 2015, the number of registered companies totaled 49,926, an increase of 5,202 from the previous year.
