Statue and other religious artifacts return to original site at Seac Pai Van roundabout

The statue of Our Lady as well as the Plaques of the Stations of the Cross and other religious artifacts that were part of the roundabout of Seac Pai Van in Coloane have been returned to their original place following restoration works, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) has said in a press statement.

The artifacts’ removal had previously sparked concerns, with many citizens fearing that they had been damaged by the construction works taking place at the site.

According to the IAM, the Bureau and the Catholic Diocese of Macau have coordinated the work of restoration of the religious artifacts and have also inspected their replacement at the original location to ensure that every step was done correctly.

As the IAM had previously mentioned at the time of the removal, the religious artifacts had been damaged due to the passage of several typhoons, and removal was only temporary and for the restoration of the items.

“The works concerned were carried out by a contractor with experience in the restoration of statues,” the statement by the IAM remarked. RM
