The University of Macau (UM) swimming team recently broke 8 records and won 11 gold medals and a silver at a national inter-varsity swimming competition. This year’s five-day competition was the largest in its history, attracting 728 students from 59 universities, some of whom are members of the Chinese National Swimming Team.
This was the first time that UM has participated in the competition. Five UM students – Lo Wai Lam, Lei On Kei, Tan Chi Yan, Mak Chong Hun, and Chao Man Hou – won gold medals with “record-breaking performances” across eight swimming categories. In addition to individual awards, some of the UM students won events in medleys.
