Three aeronautical authorities ink agreement in Hong Kong

The aeronautical authorities of mainland China, the Hong Kong SAR and the Macau SAR convened yesterday in Hong Kong where they signed an agreement to foster closer technical collaboration, particularly in the areas of low-altitude airspace development and personnel training.

The Air Traffic Management Bureau of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, the Civil Aviation Department of Hong Kong SAR and the Civil Aviation Authority of Macau SAR met and signed a document now known as the “Agreement for the Tripartite Collaboration on the Development of Air Space in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area”.

The signing ceremony was convened in the headquarters of the Hong Kong local government yesterday afternoon.

According to the agreement, the three parties will set up a team composed of representatives from major airlines and airports in the Greater Bay Area to collect the views from airspace users, assess the impact on the traffic demand and provide technical support for the safe operation and development planning for all the airports in the area.

The agreement also intends to encourage the use of their various civil aviation training facilities and the mutual acceptance of training courses, promoting a learning mechanism for personnel training in the civil aviation industry.

The three parties pledged to further develop their respective advantages in air traffic control in order to achieve a mutually beneficial relationship with the soon-to-be airport cluster in the Greater Bay Area. DB
