Tourism | GTEF 2016 begins its roadshow

The Global Tourism Economy Forum (GTEF) 2016, scheduled to be held in the region in October, kicked off its “Five Asian Cities Roadshow” in Beijing last week as part of the forum’s fifth anniversary edition.
GTEF 2016 will be held in the region’s Studio City on October 15 and 16, with the theme “The Growing Consumer Class, Rethinking And Reshaping The Future Tourism Landscape.”
According to a statement issued by the organizers, the event’s fifth edition will discuss how the “independent-minded, resourceful and tech-savvy group” is an increasingly influential force in the tourism industry.
The forum will also engage public and private sector leaders in discussions on issues relating to Chinese consumers, tourism and technology, urban tourism consumption revolution, the millennial travelers, and tourism investment.
A networking luncheon was hosted at Grand Hyatt Beijing last week, connecting, representatives from GTEF, China National Tourism Administration, Macau Government Tourism Office, and Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development.
Commenting on the Asia roadshow Peter Wong, vice chairman of GTEF and executive chairman of China Chamber of Tourism said, “GTEF is committed to fostering tourism development and cooperation between overseas tourism peers and Chinese provinces and municipalities.”
GTEF 2016’s Asia Roadshow also went to Shanghai and will continue in Taipei (August 5), Guangzhou (August 9) and Seoul, Korea (August 11).
