Tourism | MGTO extends parade to northern district

The “Parade for Celebration of the Year of the Rooster” was held on Saturday in the region’s Northern District. It featured 14 floats, singing and cultural performances.
The kick-off ceremony was held at Rua Norte do Patane at 8 p.m., and marched through streets such as Avenida do Conselheiro Borja, Estrada da Areia Preta, Rua Quatro do Bairro da Areia Preta, through to the finishing point at Iao Hon Market Garden.
Residents and visitors can observe the sight of 14 illuminated floats at Tap Seac Square until 6 p.m. February 12, according to a statement issued by the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO).
The floats are presented by entities such as China National Tourism Administration, MGTO, the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau, (IACM) and the Sports Bureau (ID).
This year, MGTO and Macao Cultural Heritage Reinventing Studies Association have jointly organized the “Chinese New Year Parade Float Snapshot” Competition to encourage more locals and visitors to upload and share pictures of the parade on social media.
The concluding remarks of an MGTO statement noted that it is continuing efforts to promote community tourism development and develop a wider diversity of tourism products.
