Ung Vai Meng exhibition opens tomorrow

The exhibition “Vestiges of Lines, Guilherme Ung Vai Meng” will open tomorrow at Albergue SCM. Marking the 19th anniversary of Macau’s handover to China, this exhibition will feature five collections, including the “Instant Series,” “Chinese Opera Series,” “Saints Series,” “Angel Series” and “Sketch Series.” According to the organizer, Albergue SCM, the works featured were completed in the last five years.

Ung Vai Meng was born in Macau where he later received formal artistic training from Master Kam Cheong Ling. He completed his master’s degree at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. In 2010, he obtained his PhD in Art History at the China Academy of Art.

Between 2010 and 2017, he was appointed president of the Cultural Affairs Bureau. Currently, he is a guest professor and “doctoral mentor” at the Macau University of Science and Technology. As an artist, Ung Vai Meng has held a number of solo exhibitions in Macau, Hong Kong, China and Europe.

The exhibition is sponsored by the Macau Foundation and will be open to the public at the A2 Gallery of Albergue SCM every day until Feb. 13, with free admission.
