44th edition of local Marathon to be held on Sunday

The 44th edition of the Macao International Marathon will take place on Sunday (Dec. 7).

This year’s marathon will have 12,000 participants from 49 countries and regions.

Several athletes from the mainland, Kenya, Ethiopia, Morocco, Rwanda, Russia, and Hong Kong, China have been invited to compete, including Fikadu Debele from Ethiopia, the 2023 and 2024 Macao International Marathon men’s champion, and Alexandra Morozova from Ethiopia, the reigning women’s champion.

The event will also feature athletes from Portuguese-speaking countries and regions, including Portugal, Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe, Sri Lanka, and Goa (India).

Registered participants must collect their bib number by Saturday (Dec. 6) at 10 p.m. on the M/F of Broadway Macau by presenting their registration receipt and identification document.

Those unable to pick up their bib in person may authorize another person to collect it on their behalf. The authorized individual must present their identification, the registration receipt with the authorization signature, and a copy of the participant’s ID.

The event will continue to feature the popular “Most Creative Costume Award,” inviting participants in the 2025 Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon to take a photo with their costume and upload it via the Marathon dedicated mobile app to join the competition. Ten winners will be selected and awarded a MOP3,000 worth voucher for food and beverage spending at the Galaxy Entertainment Group venues.
