Arts | Application for album production subsidy now open

The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) is calling for applications for this year’s Subsidy Programme for the Production of Original Song Albums, through which it will grant a subsidy of up to MOP150,000 to each selected album.

The subsidy will cover the costs of song production and cover design for the album, as well as the physical album production.

The adjudicating panel will select a maximum of eight beneficiaries and albums after the first and the second reviews, based on seven criteria.

According to the IC, the criteria include budget rationale, perfection level of album production proposals, compatibility between the album, album image and market positioning, and level of composition and lyrics, amongst others.

The album candidates for this program must be solo performers, singing groups or band albums.

The program intends to cultivate music creators and producers in Macau, hoping to encourage musicians to produce and release works and lay the groundwork for market development.

The bureau added that with the aim of fostering the local music industry, several promotional activities will also be held for the beneficiaries, so as to provide more performance opportunities.

The application period will last until January 31, 2019.
