Hong Kong Chief Executive CY Leung is currently visiting Zhuhai with other senior government officials. He plans to meet with leaders of the Zhuhai Municipal Government. Mr Leung will also visit the Hengqin New Area in the China (Guangdong) Pilot Free Trade Zone and inspect construction work on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, a note from his office revealed. The Secretary for Transport & Housing, Prof Anthony Cheung, and Secretary for Constitutional & Mainland Affairs, Raymond Tam, are among other officials accompanying CY Leung.

ICBC issues over one million Chimelong credit cards

The number of ICBC Chimelong co-brand credit cards that have been issued since January exceeds one million, with the total amount of consumption reaching RMB1.2 billion. The cards are being jointly issued by ICBC and Chimelong Group. According to ICBC, the co-brand cards are the first of their kind in China, as they come with membership to a national theme park as well as being UnionPay and VISA-branded chip cards. The cards support both contact and non-contact usage and have now been issued on the mainland and in Macau and Hong Kong. The card doubles as an ICBC credit card as well as a membership card for the Chimelong Group.

UnionPay, SmarTone jointly launch sound wave pay

UnionPay International (UPI), the global business subsidiary of China UnionPay, has joined forces with Hong Kong telecom operator SmarTone to provide a sound wave payment service for mobile phone users with UnionPay bankcards. According to Xinhua, consumers in Hong Kong and Macau will be able to enjoy the new service by downloading SmarTone’s Kiss Wallet app to their mobile phones and connecting the app to their UnionPay bankcards. More than 20 million UnionPay bankcards have been issued in Hong Kong and Macau, which can be used at almost every ATM and POS terminal in the two areas.

Planet Payment partners with BESOR

Planet Payment has allied with BESOR to expand its services in Macau, industry sources revealed yesterday. Planet Payment has made several moves recently in order to bolster its international profile, including forming a partnership with Pay.On to expand its mobile point of sale, m-commerce and e-commerce offerings. Planet Payment provides international payment, transaction processing and multi-currency processing services across 23 countries.
