China and East Timor want to strengthen cooperation

The Vice President of China, Li Yuanchao said at a meeting in Beijing with former President of Timor-Leste (East Timor) Jose Ramos-Horta, that his country intended to increase cooperation with Timor-
Leste.
According to the Xinhua news agency, Li also said that China and Timor-Leste have cooperated successfully since establishing diplomatic relations in 2002.
The Chinese Vice President advocated for greater cooperation between the two countries in order to promote the strategic partnership between them established in April this year.
Ramos-Horta said in turn, he was available to work towards the development of relations between Timor-
Leste and China.
The Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste was established on 20 May, 2002 and on the same day the country established diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China. At the time Ramos-Horta was the minister for foreign affairs.  MDT/Macauhub
