Sellers accused of passing patacas as HKD

Local merchants are being accused of giving Macau’s 10 and 50 pataca notes as change and passing them off as HKD100 and HKD500
bills, an Apple Daily report indicated. According to the report, “a 10 pataca note is slightly smaller than a HKD100 bill, but both are red and issued by the Bank of China. A 50 pataca note looks similar to a HKD500 bill as both are brown in color. If you’re paying attention it is easy to tell the difference. But if the notes are combined in a pile, someone may fall for the trick.”
