Cooperation | CE-led delegation discusses Guangdong-Macau partnership

The Chief Executive, Chui Sai On, is heading the local delegation that will take part in a joint conference on Guangdong-Macau relations, to be held this Thursday in Jiangmen city.
According to a statement released yesterday by the Government Spokesperson’s Office, the province’s governor Zhu Xiaodan, along with other Chinese authorities, will also be attending the discussions, which will focus on increasing bilateral service trade liberalization.
Earlier, the Secretary for Finance, Lionel Leong, who is also in attendance, mentioned that he was pushing for the establishment of the pilot free trade zone this year.
With the MSAR government turning toward the mainland in order to promote economic diversification, the use of Hengqin, Nansha and Cuiheng will be on the meeting’s agenda. The annual meeting will also address themes such as individual visits by yacht, environmental protection, media and culture as well as general efforts to improve livelihood in both regions. Delegates will also review the efforts made in the past year to bring about cooperation. After the conference, both regions are expected to ink multiple new agreements, and the authorities will host a press conference in order to elaborate on the outcomes reached.
