Sands China Ltd. held a ceremony last week for the first group of local SME suppliers to graduate from the Sands Procurement Academy.
The event was held at The Venetian Macao’s Adelson Advanced Education Centre and was co-organized with the Macao Chamber of Commerce and the Macau Productivity and Technology Centre .
The gaming operator said in a statement that the Sands Procurement Academy is part of the company’s F.I.T. programme for local SME suppliers, which was launched in April.
As part of its ongoing commitment to local SMEs, Sands China inaugurated the academy in June to help suppliers develop and share business expertise.
The academy provides local SMEs with tailor-made practical training modules on a weekly basis. The first round was completed at the end of July, with the second scheduled to begin in mid-October.
The first round attracted over 40 local SME suppliers, of which 38 have completed and graduated from the six modules.
Melco holds occupational health and safety workshop
Melco Resorts & Entertainment held a workshop at its City of Dreams resort to instruct some 40 local small and medium enterprise (SME) representatives on occupational health and safety, according to a statement from the company.
The workshop included an introduction to the city’s Occupational Safety and Health Charter, delivered by Jacky Tam (pictured), a senior technician at the Occupational Safety and Health Department of the Labor Affairs Bureau.
The workshop was supported by the Labor Affairs Bureau and the Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Center.
It was followed by a business networking session that allowed SME representatives to introduce their products and services to Melco’s Supply Chain Department.
