1 Group photoThe festive season brings with it the joys of giving. To honor this tradition, Sands China Ltd. hosted a community event Saturday afternoon with 40 Sands China Care Ambassadors participating.
The volunteers spent time with around 20 underprivileged local families (a total of 40 people) from the Women’s General Association of Macau. The families were escorted around The Venetian Macao’s ‘Penguins Undercover Ice World’ featuring the DreamWorks Gang ice sculpture exhibition, and later participated in Winter in Venice: the Christmas extravaganza that greets guests arriving at The Venetian Macao’s main lobby.
The Sands China Care Ambassador program aims to give Sands China employees an opportunity to serve the local community by helping to make Macau a better place to live while contributing to its development. The program’s current membership of over 500 volunteers are drawn from across all Sands China properties. The Women’s General Association of Macau was established in 1950 and is a non-profit organization. It aims to promote unity and maintain close contact with women in Macao, providing social services, and advocating for women and children’s welfare and the protection of women’s rights.

tigerair taiwan launches macau-taiwan routes

Tigerair Taiwan launched the first flight from Taipei to Macau on Wednesday, becoming the fourth airline to enter the Macau-Taiwan route market, following Air Macau, EVA Air, and TransAsia Airways. The new flight course opens up a new page of low-cost airline operating China – Taiwan flights. Passengers arriving in Macau from Taiwan increased by 6 percent from the same period last year, signalling a good time for airlines to join the market. Tigerair Taiwan is a low-cost airline formed as a joint venture between China Airlines and Tigerair. China Airlines holds 90 percent of the share. The airline plans to run a daily Taipei – Macau flight and three weekly scheduled flights between Kaohsiung –
Macau, providing more convenient route options for passengers originating in the two cities.
It is believed that Tigerair Taiwan will attract different types of passengers. The Macau Airport stated in a press release that it “will further implement the strategy of developing traditional airlines, low-cost airlines and business aviation equally and will continue building a model of a diversified international airport in the Pearl River Delta region”.
