Education | UM among 400 best universities in the world

The University of Macau (UM) made it on the list of the world’s most international universities in 2016, ranking among the top 400 universities across the globe.
The University is the only institution from Macau to show up on the list. Its rank jumped from somewhere between positions 401 to 500, in last year, to interval 351 to 400, this year. Regarding teaching scores, international outlook, industry income, research and citations, UM was awarded 21.5, 98.8, 46.3, 22, 53.3, respectively, according to the key statistics published by the Times Higher Education, a weekly magazine based in London.
UM currently has 8,521 students, with 31 percent of them considered as international students, and the ratio between students and staff is 14.9, while there are 58 females and 42 males in every one hundred people.
This year, 290 universities from 24 countries in Asia are listed in the rankings, including 19 which are among the top 200.
Five universities in Hong Kong, and four universities from mainland China are among the top 200 institutions. The University of Hong Kong reached fourth in the rankings concerning Asia, and 43rd in the global rankings. The National University of Singapore reached the 24th spot in the world ranking, but first in Asia, followed by Peking University, which ranks 29th worldwide.
The University of Oxford is the first on the list, with the ETH Zurich – Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich rounding up the top ten. Nonetheless, it is the U.S. who dominates the top 10 universities with six of its schools making it to the top positions.
The American University of Sharjah, a university from United Arab Emirates, is the most international institute, with 82 percent of its students being international students. The most international university in Asia is in Hong Kong, with 38 percent of international students. JZ
