The Global Tourism Economy Forum (GTEF), will be held this year at the Venetian Macao from October 12 to 14  and will be centered on the theme “Belt and Road Initiative: Unleashing the New Dynamics of Cultural Tourism”.
Serving as a platform for international exchange and cooperation, once more, this forum brings together ministerial officials and tourism leaders from different destinations to contribute with new ideas for global tourism and economic development.
At the press conference held yesterday at the Tourism Activities Centre, the chief of office of the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Lai Ieng Kit, initially remarked that that “GTEF not only offers valuable perspectives and a key direction for global tourism, but also helps to build Macau as a world center of tourism and leisure.”
The vice-chairman and secretary-general of GTEF, Pansy Ho, announced the program and speakers, while expressing her gratitude to all local sectors for their support. “The fourth edition of GTEF has received enthusiastic support and feedback from international and mainland provincial and regional governments as well as from public and private organizations worldwide. This clearly demonstrates GTEF’s influence on global tourism and related industries as well as its role as a key platform that connects the East and West,” she stated.
Pansy Ho also added “[by this Forum] the tourism industry can be infused with a sustainable energy and create even greater benefits.”
The 2015 edition of the GTEF will feature the Pacific Alliance countries – Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru – as the partner countries, extending the Forum’s network to Latin America, and contributing to the development of Sino-Latin American economic and trade relations. RM
