The Health Bureau (SSM) has announced that, in collaboration with the Macau Union Hospital, it has unified the enrollment for residency training in public medical institutions and venues, offering a total of 59 places.
According to its written response to lawmaker Leong Hong Sai late last month, 30 places Macau Union Hospital have already been filled, with the final results list announced.
To complement the efforts to provide more local medical personnel with “quality in-service training,” the bureau stated that it will send some of its doctors, nurses, and other medical practitioners to Beijing and other locations in batches and stages for training.
Leong submitted a written question in January regarding the promotion of medical tourism development by the hospital.
In a reply yesterday, the bureau said that the hospital has now set up a medical aesthetics department and a vaccination clinic, providing 16 medical aesthetic treatments and five types of vaccination services.
The hospital announced yesterday in a statement that it has recently launched a “Weight Management Joint Clinic,” which is set to begin regular outpatient services later this month.
The clinic will offer a range of services, including management for adult simple obesity, metabolic syndrome (hypertension, hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia, and fatty liver disease), weight issues related to chronic diseases, preconception weight loss for patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and nutritional therapy following weight loss surgery.
As of January this year, the average waiting time for a first appointment at the hospital, as referred by the SSM, stands at about 1.7 weeks. Staff Reporter
