Local young photographer and writer Ao Ngan Wa (Kate) will be launching her first book “MOVE__” and a photography exhibition titled “Living Souls” this coming Tuesday at the Rui Cunha Foundation.
Born in Macau, Kate studied and graduated from university in Taiwan before deciding to explore the world by traveling around Europe and Asia, as reported in an MDT feature last year in June.
“MOVE__” is about Kate’s travel stories. She has been volunteering and photographing her experiences while on the road, particularly since she hitchhiked all the way from Tibet to Nepal.
“She writes about a totally different travel style to show the fearless character of the 90s generation. She brings to life the truly inspiring stories of her experiences on the road,” according to a press release.
The book aims to encourage people to step out of their comfort zones and take up new challenges.
The exhibition will feature photos and portraits taken during Kate’s travels in places such as China, Tibet, Nepal, Sweden and Germany. People featured in her pictures include couchsurfing hosts, people she met along the way, and passers-by.
The “Living Souls” exhibition will be on display at the Rui Cunha Foundation until July 4. The book launch ceremony will take place next Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the foundation’s gallery. CP
