General Economy Images Ahead Of CPI DataMacau and Zhuhai have partnered to celebrate the World Car-Free Day on September 22. Cooperating with its Zhuhai counterpart, the University of Macau and other organizations, the Macau Environmental Protection Bureau will launch a “Low Carbon Bike Ride” on September 20 set between Macau and Zhuhai. Registration opens today and runs until September 16.  Organizers hope that participants will find the eco-tour a healthy and simple way to get to know the campus.
The Macau Environmental Protection Bureau (DSPA) said in a statement that it aims to promote “ecological tours” among citizens, while encouraging Macau people to choose environmentally-friendly ways to move around town, such as walking and by using public transport.
Until September 16, Macau residents aged 15 years old and over can register (citizens under 15 need a parent’s permission to register for the event). There are 50 spots available, with a maximum registration of two places per person.
A MOP50 deposit is required and will be refunded upon collection of the bicycle and registration plate after the event.
On September 20, organizers will provide transportation from the Macau Tower at 8:45 a.m. and will provide participants with bikes. The bike ride begins at UM’s Wu Yee Sun Library square. The ride includes stops in the sports complex, and the Old Students’ Library, lasting a total of 7 kilometers.
For further information, those interested in participating should contact the Cycling General Association of Macau, China, or DSPA. CP
