Man arrested for stealing HKD865,000 in construction steel

A 40-year-old local man has been arrested for allegedly stealing construction steel worth HKD865,000 from a public site in Taipa, and selling it to two hardware and scrap metal shops for a profit of about HKD70,000. In a press conference yesterday, the Judiciary Police (PJ) said that the victim, a middle-aged man, reported in early and mid-November 2025 that two batches of construction steel belonging to his company, placed on an open plot in New Urban Zone E, had been stolen. Police investigations identified the suspect, who claimed to be a casual worker at the site and not an employee of the company.
