Man lured to Cambodia by ‘high-paying’ job, rescued by Chinese police and Interpol

A young local man was lured to Cambodia in early September with the promise of a monthly salary of USD7,000 to participate in a fraud scheme. He needed assistance from the Chinese Ministry of Public Security and the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) to return to Macau. The Judiciary Police (PJ) disclosed the case last week, revealing that the man had seen a high-paying job advertisement on social media. He was subsequently arranged to travel via Guangdong Province to Cambodia for “work.” The case is still under investigation. The police noted that, so far this year, they have successfully prevented nine individuals from traveling to Cambodia in response to high-paying job offers, including one Macau resident and eight mainland residents.
