Mozambique | Second bridge in Tete to be inaugurated

The new bridge over the Zambezi River, which connects the Mozambican city of Tete to the Moatize district, will be inaugurated on 12 November, a source from the provincial government of Tete told daily newspaper Notícias.
The new bridge in Tete, which is 715 meters long and a total of 14.8 meters wide, is located about five kilometers downstream of the Samora Machel Bridge.
The work, which is part of the “New Tete Bridge and Roads” concession was designed to carry the heavy vehicles that currently pass over the Samora Machel Bridge that, from February 2015 will be reserved for light vehicles and motorcycles.
The initial budget for the project was 105.26 million euros, which includes the renewal of about 260 kilometers of roads linking the city of Tete to the border with Zimbabwe, on the way to Harare, and with Malawi, to Blantyre.
The project was undertaken by a consortium of three Portuguese companies – Mota-Engil Engenharia e Construções, which lead the consortium, Soares da Costa Construções and Opway.  MDT/Macauhub
