Public sector non-emergency services will continue to be suspended until July 1, according to an executive order issued by the Chief Executive.
The Chief Executive has directed that as Covid-19 cases continue to rise, and with another round of mass testing today, the public sector will remain closed apart from those providing emergency and essential services.
However, as cited in the order published in the Official Gazette, the closure “does not prevent public sector leadership directing public administration staff to work in epidemic prevention or for other reasons in the public interest.”
The order also reiterated that public servants who have been exempt from work and providing services due to department closures should fulfil their obligations and stay at home.
Also, the Macau Association of Banks has indicated that all banks will remain closed for another week. However, bank hotline services are still available.
The government has been calling on the public to avoid going out unless necessary to deter the spread of the virus.
It also encourages residents to self-administer a rapid antigen test and upload the result on the Macao Health Code.
The government is also encouraging the public to strictly comply with the preventive measures according to their instructions. Staff Reporter
