The Medical Director of the Conde S. Januário Hospital Lei Wai Seng has urged Macau local residents to honestly report their recent travel history.

To safeguard the health of the public, local government has introduced different several measures, including the deporting of residents of Hubei province currently in Macau. Lei believes that all these measures have effectively reduced the level of risk facing the city and ultimately ensured the safety of Macau residents.

In the upcoming days, the local government will also carry out new measures for Macau residents and non-local workers.

According to Lei, the local government will pay close attention to Macau local residents and non-local workers who visited Hubei province or other mainland cities recently. In Lei’s opinion, epidemic prevention works are becoming increasingly more difficult because of the challenges posed by Macau’s high population density.

Local residents should “pay attention to their health condition and should honestly report to us about places they visited and they should not hide anything because any kind of dishonesty may result in epidemic outbreak in local communities.”

Currently, there are a total of 25 Macau residents in Hubei. They went to the province to travel or visit their relatives.

On Monday, January 27, Macau set up exclusive checkpoints at all of Macau’s ports of entry for use by residents of Hubei province. Anyone travelling with documents or endorsements issued by Hubei province must use these checkpoints.

Earlier today, the Public Security Police Force reported that no visitors have used travel documents or travel endorsements issued by Hubei province because nobody could submit a medical proof showing they are not infected with the 2019 n-CoV. This means that no more Hubei residents have entered Macau since midnight on January 28.
