Shenzhen 3Peat winners of Macau GBA Touch Rugby

Saturday (17th) saw the 3rd annual edition of the Greater Bay Area (GBA) Touch Championship hosted in Macau. Eight teams participated – 3 from Macau; 4 from Hong Kong and 1 from China – in a competitive and exciting competition.

Teams were split into two groups of four teams, in Group A, defending champions Shenzhen Badgers racked uo three wins to book their seat in the Cup final. The Macau Sharks placed second in the group with Yellow Bull and City RFC1 ending up third and fourth. Meanwhile Group B saw the Macau Wolves and HK Greenobo fight it out for first and second, with both teams level on 7 points, Greenobo won by virtue of having scored one extra try. City RFC2 and Macau Tigers placed third and fourth.

A close Cup final saw Shenzhen Badger take the spoils winning 2-0 against Greenobo. This was the 3rd time that Shenzhen had won the GBA competition. It’s clear that the Macau air is to their liking! Macau Sharks won the Plate final 3-0 against Macau Wolves; Yellow Bull took the Bowl final also by 3-0 against City RFC2 while City RFC1 captured the Shield by beating Macau Tigers 2-1.
