Shenzhen to issue RMB1 billion bonds in Macau
The Shenzhen municipal government will issue RMB1billion (USD140 million) of offshore yuan-denominated municipal bonds in Macau in early September, with support from China’s Ministry of Finance. The three-year bonds will be themed around the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and offered exclusively to professional investors. The Monetary Authority of Macao welcomed the issuance, marking the second consecutive year Shenzhen has issued offshore yuan-denominated municipal bonds in Macau. The authority said the issuance will deepen financial cooperation between Shenzhen and Macau, support the development of the Greater Bay Area and expand Macau’s green and sustainable finance market.
