Sonangol orders two oil tankers in South Korea

Angolan national oil company Sonangol has ordered two oil tankers from South Korean company Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, the Angolan state company said in a statement published in Luanda.
Sonangol also said that based on the contract signed Thursday in Seoul, the two Suezmax vessels will be 274 meters long, 48 metres wide and 23.7 meters high and have a capacity of 156,290 tons.
The two tankers will be delivered by the South Korean company in 2017 and their construction is estimated to cost USD140 million.
Norwegian company DNV GL, resulting from the merger of Det Norske Veritas (DNV) and Germanischer Lloyd (GL), was hired to supervise construction of the ships.
Sonangol currently has two oil prospecting ships under construction in the same South Korean shipyards, with delivery scheduled for between the fourth quarter of 2015 and the second quarter of 2016.  MDT/Macauhub
