SSM extends Healthy Eating campaign to delivery platforms

The Health Bureau (SSM) has extended its Healthy Eating campaign to the city’s three food delivery platforms: Aomi; mFood; and Tikbee, the SSM has revealed.

The SSM said extending the campaign to food delivery platforms means restaurants offering dishes considered healthy in a medical and scientific sense are highlighted and presented in specific areas or with specific markings.

Food delivery platforms will be able to add a Healthy Eating icon on their apps’ front page. Healthy Eating restaurant webpages will highlight vegetarian, whole grain, as well as low salt, sugar and fat-free options. On the check-out page, keys for light salt, light sugar and light oil are added for quick choice.

A total of 48 caterers on food delivery platforms have joined in the campaign.

To join the Health Eating campaign, a caterer should provide at least five legitimate dishes regularly available on their menu.

Restaurants with licenses from either the Macao Government Tourism Office or the Municipal Affairs Bureau – with takeaway caterers included – can register with the campaign provided they meet the necessary prerequisites.

Director of Health and pulmonologist Alvis Lo noted at the launch ceremony that ordering food online has become more popular and a regular part in the dining life of local people. Therefore, the SSM has decided to extend the campaign to food delivery platforms to promote healthy dining. AL
